Thirteen riders set out for Hope, riding out along Buxton road and up to Thorncliffe and the Mermaid. We dropped in to Longnor and navigated our way through a road closure before heading in to Glutton Bridge and up the climb to Brielow Bar and in to Miller’s Dale. We climbed in to Tideswell and here, Rich C and Steve B headed back to Leek while we carried on to Hope by the back road around the cement works. We arrived at the Crass Hoppers cafe and were soon enjoying beans on toast and coffee and extra cakes for some riders to fuel the ride back.
It was decided to ride up around Mam Tor so we had the delight of that tough climb and once we re-grouped we headed to Peak forest and in to Buxton to take in the sights of the Opera house and the Pavilion. We headed out to Axe Edge and on to Flash. Here, the group split up as one group headed back along the main road while myself and Karl headed back through Flash and over Morridge due to the late return. The other group were heading back along the back of The Roaches. We arrived back in Leek at 3.10pm after a hard, sixty two mile ride. I hope the wife’s were not too angry about us being late and they will allow riders out next Sunday for the Christmas buffet and ride! Thanks to Phil G for leading the ride.
