First club ride of 2019 was to Eccleshall and fourteen riders turned out. We set off up Compton and Leekbrook before climbing out of Cheddleton and on to Rough Close. There were a few us struggling to keep up with the fast pace so dropped back a little before re-grouping and continuing in to Barleston and Tittensor and Swynnerton and Coldmeece before reaching Eccleshall. Here we had a brief stop to debate which cafe we should go to but as the Artisan Cafe was the only one open, we headed there and were soon enjoying coffee and beans on toast and one lucky rider had a free slice of cake that was handed out by mistake, there is no justice! Ant A left early as he had to return home but good to see him stick with us when he was struggling a little.
We headed back through the back roads of Stone and on towards Moddershall and Stallington before reaching Blythe Bridge and the tough, dilhorne bank. Still, nice to be climbers ground after hanging on at the back on the flat. We passed through Blakely lane and on to Cheddleton where we said goodbye to Rich C and Dave M before reaching Leek at twenty past one after a fifty mile ride. Thanks to Phil G and Rich C for leading the ride and for Shaun M’s help with the log.
